The name Blue Quartz is also used when referring to massive Quartzite with inclusions of blue minerals. Although the presence of Dumortierite can also cause Quartz to take on a violet-blue hue, this is much rarer, and the intergrowth is referred to as Dumortierite Quartz, rather than Blue Quartz.
