What is Crackle Quartz?
Although highly fractured Quartz crystals can occur naturally, most Rainbow Crackle Quartz (aka: Rainbow Quartz, Fracture Quartz, etc) is created through a process where natural Quartz crystal undergoes heat and quenching to introduce additional fracture lines within the stone. Since Rainbow Crackle Quartz is a natural Quartz stone, these new fractures join the ones already present in addition to any mineral inclusions already inherent to the stone, giving each one a unique appearance and internal landscape. These new fractures cause some crystals to form beautiful rainbows within when the gem is turned in the light, and this is where Rainbow Crackle Quartz gets its name.
While it is also called Rainbow Quartz, it should not be confused with Rainbow Aura Quartz (which is also called Rainbow Quartz) since Rainbow Crackle Quartz does not have a titanium oxide aura coating.
It should also be noted that some collectors refer to this stone as Fairy Quartz, as the texture of Rainbow Crackle Quartz is sometimes misattributed to a druzy second generation growth pattern informally referred to by many names (such as Fairy Quartz, Sugar Quartz, Cactus Quartz, Spirit Quartz, or Pineapple Quartz). Fairy Quartz is not an accurate alternative name for Rainbow Crackle Quartz since the stone does not exhibit the second generation of smaller crystals grown on prism faces that would be required.
Meaning and Properties of Rainbow Crackle Quartz
Crackle Quartz is known as a gem of psychic awareness, self empowerment, and serenity under pressure. Considered a beacon of insight and positivity, Rainbow Crackle Quartz is often carried by those facing stressful situations, since it has a radiant, uplifting energy that encourages us to face challenges, tap into our inner power, and cultivate our supernatural strengths.
How to Cleanse Crackle Quartz
Can Crackle Quartz go in water? Since Crackle Quartz typically has many, many fractures, we do not advise submerging this gem even though Quartz crystal is considered water safe. This is because long-term soaking may cause the fractures in Crackle Quartz to separate, making it easier to damage your crystal. We always advise using a Selenite tile or Full Moonlight for cleansing and charging gems, as these methods will never harm your stones. Smoke Cleansing with Sage, Incense, or dried herbs is another safe way to spiritually cleanse your Crackle Quartz.
