What is Yellow Aventurine?
Yellow Aventurine is a widely used name for translucent to semi-opaque stones exhibiting a pastel yellow to deep mustard tone, whose base mineral can be quartzite or plagioclase feldspar. The color of Yellow Aventurine stones comes from inclusions of minerals within, such as mica or hematite, and small glitters may be found within. Since the term Yellow Aventurine is used so widely, it is often used to apply to lighter Gold Quartz specimens as well, since the two stones can overlap mineralogically when Yellow Aventurine occurs in quartzite. The trade name "Yellow Jade" is sometimes used instead of "Yellow Aventurine," and while it should be noted that Yellow Nephrite does exist, it is not the same stone as Yellow Aventurine even though "Yellow Jade" is a term used to refer to both stones.
