What is Aegirine?
Aegirine, also known as Aegerine or Aegirite, is a monoclinic member of the Pyroxene Group of inosilicates, making it a Clinopyroxene Subgroup member alongside other natural minerals like Diopside and Augite. Aegirine has been found in gneisses, carbonatites, pegmatites, and shales, growing in rod-like protrusions and quill-like points. Known for its dark color, Aegirine is typically black to dark-green. Although it can take on reddish-brown tones, this coloration is usually referred to as Acmite or Acnite, rather than Aegirine.
