What is Green Aventurine Quartz?
Green Aventurine (also known as Green Aventurine Quartz) is a natural gemstone variety of Quartz crystal, whose color derives from mineral inclusions of Fuchsite Muscovite Mica. Green Aventurine can range from pale brownish-green to a robust forest tone, depending on quality, and may appear opaque to semi-translucent depending on clarity level, often featuring streaks or stripes of coloration due to the intergrowth of Muscovite Mica within the Quartz crystal. While Green Aventurine is a green variety of Quartz, there are other types of Green Quartz who derive their colors from different minerals. For example, both Chlorite Quartz and Green Phantom Quartz get their green-grey tinge from the presence of Chlorite. Natural Prasiolite, sometimes called Green Amethyst, arrives at its pale green shade due to a combination of Iron ions in the crystal structure and natural irradiation. Some forms of Included Quartz, Scenic Quartz, or Garden Quartz can take on green shades due to the presence of Hornblende, as well, and of course Quartz can become rutilated by Green Tourmaline. All this is to say that Green Aventurine, despite being a green Quartz, is set apart by its inclusions of Fuchsite, a natural Muscovite Mica, making it a distinct gem.

How to Cleanse Green Aventurine
Green Aventurine consists primarily of Quartz crystal with inclusions of Fuchsite Muscovite Mica, which means that the rate of encapsulation is very important when considering how to cleanse your crystal. If you can see or feel sections where Fuchsite is openly exposed on your specimen, it is not advised to engage in submerging the stone, since all forms of Mica are much softer than Quartz, and long-term exposure to liquid may cause damage. However, if your Green Aventurine's Fuchsite inclusions are completely encapsulated within the Quartz, you shouldn't see any damage from allowing the stone to be in water for short dips. When in doubt, we always advise the use of a Selenite bowl or exposure to Full Moonlight for charging and cleansing crystals, since these methods won't cause any damage to your stones. Smoke Cleansing with Sage, Palo Santo, Incense, or dried herbs is another safe way to cleanse Green Aventurine.
