Leopardite is a gem of primal energy that resonates strongly with the Lower Chakras (Root Chakra, Sacral Chakra, and Solar Plexus Chakra), keeping us in touch with our instincts, the pleasures of the natural world, and the generational wisdom that comes to us from Ancestors. Often used as a stone for grounding and instilling feelings of security, Leopardite is excellent for bringing out the best in us as we build our self-esteem and self-awareness, but it is also a stone of forward momentum. This means that Leopardite is highly useful in crystal grids for motivation, determination, and positive change, since it facilitates confidence, especially in the face of doubts, fears, or naysayers who try to tear us down. Leopardite promotes strength of character and helps us to maintain emotional balance despite the judgment, gossip, or sabotaging actions of those who hope to see us fail.
Leopardite is often called Leopard Stone and is frequently confused with Leopard Skin Jasper, although they are not the same stone. Although it's sometimes called a "Jasper," like many gems, Leopardite is not a Jasper at all! It consists of several minerals growing together in just the right way, yielding its specific splotched pattern. Specifically, Leopardite is a type of porphyry with small Quartz phenocrysts in microgranitic matrix which can contain Orthoclase, Albite, Mica, and other minerals, hence the varying colors of Leopardite and its interesting texture when tumbled.
