What is Malachite?
Malachite stone is a natural secondary Copper mineral, known for its strong green tones, and is structurally related to the Rosasite Group. Sometimes found intergrown with Chrysocolla or Azurite, Malachite is a popular crystal that is highly sought after by collectors for its beauty as well as its metaphysical properties. Since it forms in unique swirls, layers, and bubbles, the pattern of Malachite is never exactly the same from piece to piece, making each one a work of art from Mother Earth. Please take care when handling your Malachite stone, and wash your hands after touching raw Malachite. Your Malachite crystal should not be exposed to water, and we ask that you take proper respiratory precautions if you decide to carve your Malachite at home, as large quantities of gemstone dust of any kind can post health risks.
What is Malachite Used for?
Spiritually, Malachite resonates with the Heart Chakra and Throat Chakra, and is widely considered to be a phenomenal gem for promoting confidence, spiritual healing, transformation, growth, self expression, and positivity. The meaning of Malachite is new beginnings since it is known for helping us heal emotional wounds, breaking negative cycles, and encouraging self acceptance. Malachite crystal jewelry is often worn by those seeking to carry the stone's spiritual gifts with them daily, but the stone is also used in crystal grids and spell jars focused on growth and renewal.
How to Cleanse Malachite
Malachite stone should not be exposed to liquids, and is thus not safe to cleanse using water. Long-term submersion can cause damage to your Malachite crystal, and may result in copper leeching out of the gemstone. We do not advise water diffusion for any gemstones, but Malachite especially should not be used for this purpose.
We always suggest a Selenite tile or bowl, or Full Moonlight, when it comes to charging and cleansing crystals, as these methods do not cause harm to any gems. Smoke Cleansing with Sage, Incense, or dried herbs is another safe method for cleansing your Malachite crystal.
We do not advise Sunlight cleansing or charging of Malachite, since long-term UV exposure can cause color changes to the mineral specimen, even after it has been polished.
