Clam Shell Jasper, also known as Shell Marble or Thousand Eye Jasper, is a natural form of metamorphic rock containing Dolomite, Calcite, and other carbonate minerals. Some specimens also feature pockets of Quartz or Chalcedony, as well as Fossils trapped within. Because of the highly variable appearance of this stone, it is often sold as a form of Grey Jasper, although (like many honorary Jaspers) it is not mineralogically a Jasper at all. When the patterning of the stone is sparse, it is most likely to be referred to as "Clam Shell Jasper" while specimens with extensive overlapping patterns are typically called "Thousand Eye Jasper."
