What is Auralite?
Among crystal collectors, the names Auralite 23, Auralite Crystal, Auralight, Auralite Red Cap Amethyst, and Auralite Amethyst are used when discussing a form of Included Amethyst (or Included Quartz) sourced around Ontario, Canada. The special quality of these stones is such that they may show microscopic intergrowth with up to 23 other minerals, such as: Cacoxenite, Ajoite, Hematite, Titanite, Pyrite, Magnetite, Lepidocrocite, Pyrolusite, Rutile, Gold, Silver, Nickel, Goethite, Epidote, Covellite, Gilalite, Bornite, Chalcopyrite, Iron, Sphalerite, Limonite, Platinum, or Copper. Testing has confirmed that not all specimens referred to under the Auralite 23 name contain all 23 of the minerals listed, but stones sourced from the Ontario site are still given the name Auralite 23.
Is Auralite 23 the Same as Super 7?
There is some confusion between Auralite 23 and Super Seven in the crystal community, since the two stones can be extremely visually similar (comprised largely of Amethyst/Quartz) and may contain some of the same mineral inclusions. The defining differences between the two, according to sources of the stones, are firstly that that Auralite 23 features microscopic mineral inclusions, whereas the intergrowth in Super Seven stone is more readily apparent to the naked eye (and consists of a smaller range of minerals). Secondly, Auralite 23 is a name applied exclusively to stones found at the Ontario site. In our experience, they are quite similar energetically, in that both Super Seven and Auralite 23 are exceptional gems for crystal healing and spiritual awareness and both have a vibrant, highly active presence. However, unlike the Super Seven stone, Auralite 23 does need to be cleansed and charged regularly, so please keep this in mind!

How to Cleanse Auralite 23 Crystals
Although Auralite 23 ranges from a 6 to a 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, it must be remembered that Auralite is defined by the many microscopic inclusions of other minerals that may be held within the base Amethyst or Quartz crystal. For this reason, we strongly advise against submerging this stone in liquids long-term, as some of the minerals contained in your Auralite stone may react adversely to water or oils over time. Wiping with a damp cloth before allowing it to dry should be perfectly safe, though! Since many Auralite 23 crystals feature a base makeup of Amethyst, sunlight cleansing and charging is not recommended for this gemstone, since continual exposure to the sun may cause the stone to lighten in color. When in doubt, a Selenite tile or Full Moonlight exposure are both wonderful, safe ways to spiritually cleanse and charge Auralite 23. Smudging with Sage, Palo Santo, dried herbs, or Incense is another safe way to cleanse your Auralite crystal!
