What is Tokkoite? Are Tokkoite and Tinkasite the Same?
Tokkoite is a natural crystal, colorless to light yellow or light brown, found in splintery growths amid Charoite between the Chara and Tokko rivers in Russia. This proximity to the Tokko river is actually how Tokkoite got its name! Although it is sometimes mistaken for Stilbite by crystal collectors who find this peachy-yellow beauty growing together with their Charoite, Tokkoite is actually much closer to Tinkasite (another crystal that can be found growing together with Chaoite gems).
Although it's close in composition to other potassic calcic silicates such as Miserite and Apophyllite, Tokkoite is isostructural with Tinkasite, with the two often found growing together alongside Charoite. When we say "isostructural" this very basically means that Tokkoite and Tinkasite have similar growth structures-- and indeed, can look very similar at first blush-- but slightly different chemical makeup. While Tinkasite features the polyhedra of Na + Ti, Tokkoite has a band of Ca(1), Ca(2) octahedra. Tokkoite contains only small amounts of Na (Sodium) and Ti (Titanium), which is one of the defining differences between these two stones. Tokkoite has been found in radial and columnar aggregate growths and can provide a good cleavage when parted along its grain of growth.
Tokkoite Meaning and Metaphysical Properties
If Charoite is the stone of the Soul, Tokkoite is the stone of Sight, particularly when it comes to charting our course in life, building a positive vision of the future, and seeing our intentions through. Resonating with the Solar Plexus Chakra and Crown Chakra, Tokkoite encourages us to act on our hopes, wishes, and goals in life and forge our dreams into reality through self empowerment. A stone for active personal betterment, Tokkoite is a powerhouse for visualization, manifestation, and forward momentum, known for giving us the supportive push we need to follow through on our plans so that we can enjoy the growth and achievement that will result. It's no surprise that Tokkoite is used by those facing new beginnings, transitions, and tumultuous changes in life, since the gem is believed to keep us on track and connect us to the Higher Self so that we can make choices that will benefit us on every level.
