Turquenite is Howlite dyed to be bright blue.  The grey veins of the underlying Howlite are sometimes visible, and Turquenite may feature lighter spots where the white Howlite did not accept dye as thoroughly. It may also feature Quartz inclusion in the underlying Howlite.
