What are Tumbled Stones Used For?
Tumbled crystals and polished stones are one of our favorite ways to engage with spiritual gemstones, since they're easy to carry in a purse, pocket, or pouch for everyday use. Tumbled stones make wonderful fidget toys for reducing stress and anxiety, and are excellent focal items during meditation or spellwork. Polished crystals are a staple spiritual tool, since they can be placed on the altar table as representatives of specific elements, Chakras, and intentions. They can be used in spell jars, crystal grids, ritual candles, placed on the body during spiritual healing, or added to cage pendants to create your own gemstone jewelry, and particularly smooth specimens are great for sensory bowls as well. Tumbled stones are a truly versatile tool for many purposes, but even if you don't incorporate them into your spiritual practice, they make beautiful pieces of home decor. Polished stones can add to any space when displayed in a decorative bowl or glass vase, and since natural crystals are all unique, adding to your crystal collection is a great way to surround yourself with little drops of Earth history!
How Do You Polish Crystals?
Each gemstone is its own secret, waiting to be unlocked! The key is to know and understand the physical properties of the crystal, such as its porosity, density, Mohs hardness, how it responds to liquid, and what mineral inclusions are present within. This information is important when choosing how to polish crystals and stones. Depending on their structure, our tumbled stones are brought to their beautiful luster by rotary tumbler, vibratory tumbler, and/or hand polishing. By working in small batches, using successively finer grits of polishing materials, carefully adjusting the tumbling/polishing period, and relying on our decades of experience with gemstones, we can achieve truly beautiful results!
